The Caithness breeding programme has always focused heavily on disease resistance characteristics. As a consequence some of our varieties are well adapted to organic production.

Valor and Verity in particular have the highest blight resistance scores of any varieties commercially available in the UK. Valor also has a very high level of PCN resistance.

Caithness has its own organic seed programme, grown around Perth and produced under the auspices of the Soil Association and the Scottish Organic Producers Association (SOPA).

Approximately 400 hectares of organic Valor consumption potatoes are produced each year in the Nuberia area of Egypt for export all over of Europe.
